My Role
As an independent Consultant I worked closely with the client to create a booking site for their musical clients.
Discover
GuitarPiQ is a talent agent that works with Venues to book bands in the Chicagoland area.
They were previously handling all of their business by hand and wanted to create a marketplace so venues could request bands.
The goal of the project is to create a website in which Talent Buyers at Musical Venues can book Bands represented by GuitarPiQ online with as much automated as possible.
Define
Process
GuitarPiQ's founder was completing a masters degree in UX and was able to provide me with architectural flows which served as the backbone of the website. I worked with him to refine the flows through the website and make key decisions.
We decided we would use a cart system - allowing venues to add a band and 'checkout' with them to request a quote.
We wanted to highlight categories and sub-categories, as most venues chose bands based on what kind of music they played, but many bands could fall into multiple sub-categories.
I build the webstie in WordPress and used modified WooCommerce for the cart and checkout sytems.
I relied on stock images from Unsplash to bring the different genres to life and ensure the users always knew where they were on the website.
Personas
Talent Buyer
Arranges performances for a venue. Wants to learn about bands and their availability. Wants the details.
Band Manager
Wants to book gigs and manager their band's online presence. Wants to make sure the bands needs are met at the venue
GuitarPiQ Agent
Wants venues to be able to book bands as quickly and simply as possible with as few touch points as possible.

We defined an MVP that would still rely on GuitarPiQ's Agents to manually confirm bookings with the venue and the band but we left room in the development process to revist the website as GuitarPiQ grows and automate the process further.
